■ “가짜뉴스가 선거를 흔들고 있다”… ‘경선 테러’ 규정
민 후보는 “전남·광주 통합특별시장 선거라는 역사적 첫걸음이 시작부터 불순한 가짜뉴스에 오염되고 있다”며 현 상황을 강하게 비판했다.
앞서 그는 지난 21일 긴급 기자회견을 열고 허위 득표율 문자 유포를 ‘경선 테러’로 규정하며 중앙당 선관위와 지도부의 즉각 대응을 촉구한 바 있다.
이에 대해 더불어민주당 중앙당 선거관리위원회는 22일 공식 입장문을 통해 해당 득표율 문자가 명백한 허위정보임을 확인하고, 관련 행위자에 대해 무관용 원칙을 적용하겠다고 밝혔다.

■ “확인만으로 부족하다”… 투명 공개 요구
그러나 민 후보는 당의 ‘허위정보 확인’ 조치만으로는 사태를 수습하기 어렵다고 지적했다.
그는 “이미 유포된 가짜뉴스는 시도민의 눈과 귀를 가리고 공정한 판단을 방해했다”며 “이는 민주주의의 핵심인 참정권을 심각하게 훼손한 사안”이라고 강조했다.
이어 “상처 입은 주권을 복원할 수 있는 유일한 길은 정보의 투명한 공개”라며 예비경선 결과 공개 필요성을 강하게 제기했다.

■ 본경선 5인 공동 대응 제안… “유불리 아닌 신뢰의 문제”
민 후보는 본경선에 진출한 강기정, 김영록, 신정훈, 주철현 후보(가나다순)를 향해 공동 행동을 공식 제안했다.
그는 “다섯 후보가 합의해 당 선관위에 예비경선 득표율과 순위의 전면 공개를 강력히 요청하자”며 “이는 특정 후보의 유불리를 떠난 문제”라고 선을 그었다.
특히 “비공개 원칙이 오히려 가짜뉴스의 토양이 되고 있다”며 “출처 불명의 ‘찌라시’가 경선의 주인 노릇을 하게 둘 수 없다”고 직격했다.

■ “지금 필요한 것은 결단”… 경선 신뢰 회복 시험대
민 후보는 이번 제안을 단순한 정치적 주장에 그치지 않고, 경선의 신뢰를 바로 세우는 ‘시험대’로 규정했다.
그는 “이번 공동 대응은 가짜뉴스로 실추된 경선의 신뢰를 회복하기 위한 최소한의 조치”라며 “네 후보의 즉각적인 결단과 동참을 촉구한다.”고 밝혔다.

As the Jeonnam–Gwangju integrated metropolitan mayoral primary faces a critical turning point amid a “fake news controversy,” National Assembly member Min Hyung-bae has declared a direct response strategy.

However, Min argued that merely confirming the information as false is insufficient to resolve the situation.
He stated, “The already-circulated fake news has clouded citizens’ judgment and obstructed fair decision-making,” adding,
“This is a serious violation of the fundamental democratic right to vote.”
He further emphasized, “The only way to restore damaged sovereignty is through transparent disclosure of information,” strongly calling for the release of the preliminary primary results.
■ Proposes joint action by five candidates… “This is about trust, not advantage”
Min officially proposed joint action to fellow candidates Kang Ki-jung, Kim Young-rok, Shin Jung-hoon, and Joo Cheol-hyun (listed in alphabetical order).
He urged, “Let all five candidates agree to strongly request that the party’s election committee fully disclose the vote percentages and rankings of the preliminary primary,” stressing that
“this is not about political advantage for any particular candidate.”
He also pointed out that “the principle of non-disclosure has ironically become fertile ground for fake news,” warning that
“we cannot allow unverified ‘rumor sheets’ to dominate the primary process.”
■ “What we need now is decisive action”… A test of restoring trust in the primary
Min framed his proposal as more than a political stance, calling it a test of restoring trust in the primary process.
He stated, “This joint response is the minimum measure needed to restore credibility damaged by fake news,” and
“urged the four other candidates to make an immediate decision and join the effort.”
As the Jeonnam–Gwangju integrated mayoral election is seen as a pivotal moment that will shape the region’s future,
