국가유산청 국립해양유산연구소가 한국 수중발굴 50주년을 맞아 미래 세대와 함께 바다 속 역사를 새롭게 그려낸다.

국립해양유산연구소(소장 이은석)는 오는 3월 27일부터 4월 10일까지 전국 초등학생을 대상으로 「어린이 해양유산 그림그리기 공모전」을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

이번 공모전은 단순한 미술대회를 넘어, 바다 속에 잠들어 있는 역사와 문화유산을 어린이의 시선과 상상력으로 재해석하는 참여형 문화 프로젝트로 기획됐다.

■ “내가 그리는 바닷속 보물”… 창의력과 역사 만난다.
공모 주제는 ‘내가 그리는 신비한 바닷속 해양유산’이다.
참가 대상은 전국 초등학생이며, 8절지에 크레파스·색연필·사인펜·수채화물감·파스텔 등 다양한 재료를 활용해 자유롭게 표현하면 된다.
접수는 연구소 누리집에서 신청서를 내려 받아 작성한 뒤, 완성된 작품과 함께 우편 또는 방문 제출 방식으로 진행된다.

■ “전국 72명 수상”… 어린이날 시상식 개최
심사는 저학년(1~3학년)과 고학년(4~6학년)으로 구분해 진행되며, 전문가 평가를 통해 공정하게 선정된다.
최종 수상작은 4월 20일 연구소 누리집을 통해 발표된다.
시상 규모는 총 72명으로, 대상(국가유산청장상), 최우수상(국립해양유산연구소장상), 우수상(목포MBC사장상), 장려상(전남박물관미술관협회장상), 입선(국립해양유산연구소장상) 등 다양한 부문에서 수상자가 선정된다.
시상식은 오는 5월 5일 어린이날에 개최되며, 이후 수상작은 대형 현수막으로 제작돼 공개될 예정이다.

■ “바다 속 유산, 미래 세대가 이어간다.”
한국 수중발굴은 오랜 세월 바다 속에 잠들어 있던 유물을 발굴하고 보존해 국민과 공유해 온 핵심 문화유산 연구 분야다.
이번 공모전은 어린이들에게 해양유산의 의미를 자연스럽게 전달하는 동시에, 문화유산 보존의 가치를 다음 세대로 확장하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

국립해양유산연구소 관계자는 “어린이들이 바다 속 유산을 상상하고 표현하는 과정 자체가 역사와 문화에 대한 이해를 넓히는 교육”이라며
“앞으로도 해양유산을 쉽고 재미있게 접할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

The Korea Heritage Service’s National Research Institute of Maritime Cultural Heritage is inviting the next generation to rediscover history hidden beneath the sea.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Korea’s underwater excavation, the institute (Director: Lee Eun-seok) announced that it will hold the “Children’s Marine Heritage Drawing Contest” from March 27 to April 10, open to elementary school students nationwide.
This contest goes beyond a simple art competition. It is designed as a participatory cultural project where children reinterpret submerged historical and cultural heritage through their own imagination and perspective.
■ “Treasures Beneath the Sea”… Where Creativity Meets History
The theme of the contest is “The Mysterious Marine Heritage Beneath the Sea as I Imagine It.”
Participants must be elementary school students and may freely express their ideas on 8-cut drawing paper using materials such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paints, or pastels.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the form from the institute’s website, completing it, and sending it along with the artwork by mail or delivering it in person.
■ “72 Winners Nationwide”… Awards Ceremony on Children’s Day
Entries will be evaluated by experts and divided into two categories:
Lower grades (1st–3rd grade)
Upper grades (4th–6th grade)
Final winners will be announced on April 20 via the institute’s website.
A total of 72 awards will be presented, including:
Grand Prize (Korea Heritage Service Award)
Excellence Award (Director of the Institute Award)
Merit Award (Mokpo MBC President Award)
Encouragement Award (Jeonnam Association of Museums & Art Galleries Award)
Honorable Mentions (Institute Award)
The awards ceremony will take place on May 5, Children’s Day, and the winning artworks will later be displayed on large-scale banners.

Korea’s underwater excavation efforts have uncovered and preserved invaluable cultural assets long hidden beneath the sea, sharing their historical significance with the public.
This contest is expected to serve as an opportunity for children to better understand the value of marine heritage while extending the importance of cultural preservation to future generations.
An official from the institute stated,
“Through imagining and expressing underwater heritage, children naturally gain a deeper understanding of history and culture,”
adding,
“We will continue to expand diverse programs that allow children to experience maritime heritage in a fun and engaging way.”
